Redwire to acquire Edge Autonomy for $925M to boost space and defense technologies
Redwire Corp announced on Monday its agreement to acquire Edge Autonomy in a $925 million deal. The transaction will merge Redwire’s expertise in space technology with Edge Autonomy’s capabilities in autonomous systems, creating a company that spans defense and space platforms.
The acquisition includes $150 million in cash and $775 million in Redwire common stock. Once finalized, Redwire expects the combined company to generate annual revenues of $535 million to $605 million by the end of 2025, with adjusted earnings projected between $70 million and $105 million, Reuters reported.
Bringing Space and Airborne Technologies Together
Redwire CEO Peter Cannito emphasized the value of the merger: “As space and airborne platforms converge into an integrated network of autonomous, collaborative systems, Redwire will be poised to provide end-to-end solutions for multi-domain operations from the surface of the earth to the surface of the moon and beyond.”
Edge Autonomy brings to the table a portfolio of advanced optics and autonomous systems used by high-profile clients like the U.S. Department of Defense. Its offerings complement Redwire’s, enabling the combined entity to serve both government and commercial clients more effectively.
Founded in 2020, Redwire provides technologies that support space exploration, satellite manufacturing, and in-space sustainability. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, the company works with NASA, the Department of Defense, and commercial partners on innovations like in-space 3D printing and modular satellite components.
Redwire became a publicly traded company in 2021 through a merger with Genesis Park Acquisition Corp, and its contributions continue to push the boundaries of space infrastructure.
What Lies Ahead
The deal, which has already been approved by a special committee of Redwire’s board, is expected to close by the second quarter of 2025. Regulatory and shareholder approvals remain the final hurdles.
This acquisition marks an important step for Redwire as it expands its reach into defense technology, while Edge Autonomy strengthens its capabilities in autonomous systems. Together, they aim to meet growing demands for integrated solutions across space and airborne technologies.
