Spotify’s much-anticipated Wrapped 2024 has officially dropped, giving millions of users a chance to relive their listening habits over the past year. The annual feature offers a personalized breakdown of top songs, artists, and genres while letting users compare their preferences with others around the globe.
Taylor Swift once again dominated the charts as Spotify’s Global Top Artist, marking her second consecutive year in the spotlight. Her album “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” claimed the top spot on the global most-streamed albums list, while Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” was the most-played track worldwide and in the U.S.
This year, Spotify has taken things further by introducing AI-powered enhancements. Users can now explore personalized podcasts generated from their music history, a feature born out of the company’s expanded partnership with Google’s NotebookLM. This blend of data and technology not only enriches the Wrapped experience but also reflects the increasing influence of AI in everyday interactions.
Spotify Wrapped 2024 isn’t just about music—it’s a showcase of how artificial intelligence is transforming the way we connect with our favorite artists and tracks. By integrating advanced tools, Spotify delivers deeper insights into listening habits, bridging the gap between technology and creativity.
“Spotify Wrapped is officially here, and with it comes your highly personal look back at how you soundtracked your year. Spotify Wrapped gives listeners a chance to look back at the artist and track connections they’ve made over the course of the year through their personalized Wrapped list while also exploring some of the songs and artists that helped define the year in music culture more broadly through our editorial end-of-year Wrapped playlists,” Spotify said in a post.
Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” surged to the second spot, while Drake climbed the most-streamed artists’ list after a public rap battle with Lamar earlier this year. Lamar finished in seventh place overall among U.S. artists.
Spotify’s top podcasts of 2024 reflect shifting trends in media consumption. “The Joe Rogan Experience” took the global top spot, with a notable October episode featuring President-elect Donald Trump. “Call Her Daddy,” which hosted Vice President Kamala Harris during the same month, came in second. These high-profile appearances underscore how political campaigns are leveraging platforms like Spotify to connect with voters outside traditional media channels.
Spotify’s Wrapped arrives as the platform continues its growth trajectory. The company reported 640 million monthly active users in its latest earnings call, slightly ahead of analysts’ expectations. While third-quarter revenue and earnings missed targets, Spotify remains optimistic about its profitability heading into the final quarter, CNBC reported.
As Wrapped 2024 rolls out, it’s clear that Spotify continues to find ways to keep its massive user base engaged through innovation and a fresh take on music discovery.
