AI startup Knownwell raises $4 million in funding to accelerate growth
Knownwell, a Virginia-based AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) startup, has secured $4 million in seed funding to speed up the growth of its Commercial Intelligence platform, which is designed for professional services firms.
This round, which follows a $2 million pre-seed investment from January, was led by Sovereign’s Capital with contributions from Studio.vc and other private investors.
The fresh funding will be used to grow the development team and enhance the platform’s features, which aim to help companies improve client results, boost satisfaction, and reduce turnover.
AI as a Service (AIaaS), much like SaaS, is a cloud-based model that gives companies easy access to AI tools via third-party providers. It offers businesses an affordable, low-risk way to explore and deploy AI solutions, bypassing the need for heavy upfront investment in infrastructure or specialized talent like data scientists.
Founded in 2022 by CEO David DeWolf, Knownwell helps organizations turn their everyday communications, internal data, and public information into useful insights. The goal is to reduce client churn, promote growth, and increase operational efficiency.
David previously founded and led 3Pillar Global, a digital product development company that consistently grew during his 16-year tenure as CEO.
Knownwell’s leadership includes a team of seasoned tech industry experts, who have guided large organizations through prior periods of major change. They’ve successfully led multiple companies to exit through private equity and venture capital deals, showing a strong track record in building and scaling businesses.
“We’re excited to have Sovereign’s Capital onboard as we push forward in reshaping client intelligence for the professional services sector,” said DeWolf. “This funding is a clear signal of confidence in our platform’s potential to reshape enterprise commercial intelligence through AI. With Sovereign’s backing, we’ll have the support needed to accelerate our growth and product evolution.”
Phil Jung from Sovereign’s Capital added, “Knownwell’s AI platform is set to transform how professional services firms interact with their clients. Their approach, combining communications data from email, Slack, and Zoom with public data, will offer deeper insights and smarter decision-making, strengthening client relationships.”
Knownwell has already started onboarding its first group of Early Access customers. With this funding, the company plans to expand its tech team, bring on additional clients, and drive strategic growth.
