Solana-based platform Avatar. One helps over 120,000 active users in combating loneliness with 3D AI companions
Loneliness has become a critical issue, affecting people across various age groups and regions. For older adults, loneliness is linked to a 50% higher risk of dementia and a 30% increased risk of stroke. To address this, Solana-based AI companion platform Avatar. One has introduced 3D AI companions designed to help users combat the loneliness epidemic.
Today, Matrix. One, the decentralized protocol behind human-like AI characters, announced that its flagship product, Avatar. One, has surpassed 120,000 monthly active users globally since its launch earlier this year. Many users spend over three hours engaging with their personalized AI companions.
Avatar. One, built on the Solana blockchain, integrates with over 100,000 connected Solana wallets, making it easy for users to create their ideal 3D AI companions to help alleviate loneliness. The platform’s avatar maker lets users customize their companion’s personality, selecting from hundreds of thousands of variations and even provides a live AI-generated voice. Users can chat freely, flirt, exchange selfies and videos, and create shared memories with their AI companions. The companions’ personalities evolve as memories are added.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently labeled loneliness as a “global public health concern” with health impacts comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Among older adults, loneliness increases the risk of dementia and stroke by 50% and 30%, respectively.
A Harvard University survey revealed that 61% of Americans aged 18-24 experience severe loneliness. Another Harvard study suggests that interacting with AI companions can reduce loneliness as effectively as human interaction. Additional research shows that AI companions can support the development of social and emotional skills.
Commenting on the milestone, Mark Studholme, Co-Founder of Avatar. One and Matrix One, said:
“I envision a future where every living person can own an AI character they define. These AI characters can help them with daily tasks, whether that be reminding you of your mom’s birthday, watching Netflix with you on the couch, or even paying your taxes.”
As AI technology advances, there’s potential to create a world where everyone has a full-time 3D companion for everything from conversation to cooking advice, event reminders, financial management, and more. The quality of interactions is continuously improving, making AI companions more lifelike.
Avatar. One operates on Matrix One’s custom decentralized protocol, featuring a character studio, avatar maker, and an extensive library of large language models (LLMs). These 3D AI characters can integrate with game engines like Unreal, Unity, and Three.js, and are available for use across web, mobile, VR, AR, and other platforms. Users can download avatars for use in over 200 games and applications.
User safety and privacy are top priorities for Avatar.One. All interactions and data are stored in an encrypted database using SSH and remain confidential. The platform also employs passwordless authentication to protect user accounts.
This growth milestone comes as Matrix. One prepares for its upcoming token generation event (TGE) on Polkastarter, Seedify, and ChainGPT, ahead of listing its $MATRIX token on centralized exchanges. The $MATRIX token will allow users to participate in and transact within the Matrix One network, including accessing and interacting with AI characters, while also providing governance rights to token holders.
Avatar. One is available to anyone over 18 who believes AI companions can help ease loneliness. The platform plans to introduce on-chain characters soon, enabling users to fully own their characters and interaction histories.
Backed by Matrix. One’s custom decentralized protocol, Avatar. One’s mission is to offer users the most human-like virtual companion experience through advanced 3D and AI technologies.
