Tesla unveils Cybertruck with up to 470 miles of range and a $61,000 starting price
After two years of delays and production challenges, the long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck has finally arrived. Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, personally handed over the first Cybertrucks with Blade Runner-inspired to their new owners, including Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, during an event streamed live on X, Musk’s social media platform.
The electric pickup truck can travel up to 470 miles on a single charge and has a starting price of $61,000. The handovers took place at Tesla’s Austin headquarters, featured as part of a live-streamed launch event on X, Musk’s social media platform.
According to reports, the entry-level Cybertruck will start at $60,990 for a rear-wheel drive model, with availability slated for 2025. This price marks a significant increase of over 50% from Musk’s initial projection in 2019. The company faced a two-year setback in its schedule due to production difficulties.

The truck boasts a sleek, shiny stainless steel exterior, featuring flat planes with minimal curves. Musk has cited inspiration from the car-turned-submarine featured in the 1977 James Bond movie “The Spy Who Loved Me.”
However, Cybertruck’s unconventional design and use of new body materials have escalated production complexities and costs, potentially distancing traditional pickup truck buyers who prioritize utility, as noted by experts.

During the launch event in Austin, Texas, Musk drove a Cybertruck onto the stage, receiving cheers from the crowd. He later personally handed over vehicles to around a dozen customers.
“Finally, the future will look like the future,” Musk remarked about the truck’s design, showcasing a video of the Cybertruck towing a Porsche 911 and triumphing over another gasoline-powered 911 in a brief race.
Meanwhile, Cybertruck also comes with CyberTent.
