Cybersecurity startup [redacted] emerges from stealth with $35M in Series B funding to take the fight back to the hackers
No day goes by without headlines about cyber-attacks and data breaches. Just last month, cyber hackers successfully hacked into Colonial Pipeline Co, the operator of America’s largest fuel pipeline system that takes fuel from the refineries of the Gulf Coast to the New York metro area.
Now, a cybersecurity startup founded by former Facebook CSO, NSA, and CIA operatives wants to take the fight back to the hackers. [redacted] is a San Francisco-based tech startup that aims to level the playing field for organizations against sophisticated attackers, disrupt their adversaries, and protect their businesses. Through its state-of-the-art platform and advanced threat intelligence and response, [redacted] partners with its customers to disrupt their adversaries and protect their businesses.
Today, [redacted] emerged from stealth with $35 million in Series B funding led by Ten Eleven Ventures, with participation from Valor Equity Partners and SVB Capital. The round, which brings the total funding raised by the company to $60 million, will be used to scale and accelerate the adoption of its platform and advanced threat intelligence and response capabilities.
In conjunction with the funding, [redacted] also announced that Alex Doll from Ten Eleven Ventures and Constantine Saab from Valor Equity Partners will join its Board of Directors.
Founded in 2015 by a team with deep government and private sector experience, [redacted] delivers organizations of all sizes layered defense and orchestrated response through a packaged suite of security technologies and services designed to address the full spectrum of cybersecurity needs.
[redacted]’s founding team brings unparalleled security intelligence experience that spans the public and private sectors. CEO and co-founder Max Kelly held the role of chief security officer at Facebook and previously worked at the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command, while co-founder John Hering founded and served as CEO for the cybersecurity firm Lookout. The entire [redacted] team has more than 300 years of combined experience defending public and private entities, including Facebook, Amazon, NASA JPL, Symantec, Cisco, FBI, CIA, NSA, DIA, Army, Air Force, Navy, US Marine Corps, US Cyber Command, the UK’s GCHQ.
Its platform provides its customers with continual awareness of their security posture at all times and what actions [redacted] is taking to keep them safe. If an attack does occur, [redacted]’s unparalleled pursuit capabilities enable the team to hold attackers accountable and disrupt their operations.
“Adversaries that attack companies and high net worth entities operate outside the law and elude consequences for their actions, creating an uneven playing field for defenders,” said Max Kelly, co-founder and CEO of [redacted]. “Just playing defense is a losing strategy. In order to be truly resilient, companies need more than simple monitoring and auditing of their environments for malicious activity. They need a partner that provides broader context and the capabilities to pursue and disrupt adversaries — within the rule of law — to protect their businesses. We founded [redacted] to level the playing field for security-conscious organizations.”
