French President Emmanuel Macron tests positive for coronavirus
French President Emmanuel Macron becomes the fourth world leader to test positive for coronavirus. According to the Élysée, President Macron tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday after displaying symptoms.
President Macron joins other world leaders who’ve tested positive for the COVID-19 including U.S. President Donald Trump, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, among other high-profile leaders to have had the deadly virus.
Now, several European leaders are taking precautionary measures by isolating themselves after meeting with Macron in the past week. Last month, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a month-long nationwide lockdown to stem the tide of the deadly virus after the country reported its highest daily figure since April 15.
France is currently on the fourth day of its second nationwide lockdown to stem the second wave of the coronavirus lockdown. Health authorities and medical experts warned that it may take days or even weeks before epidemic indicators go downward thanks to the restrictive measures because the symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus.
