Elon Musk says Tesla HQ ‘will move to Texas or Nevada immediately;’ plans lawsuit after California county health official says factory CAN’T reopen
Last month, we wrote about Tesla CEO Elon Musk after he called the stay-at-home orders ‘fascist.’ He made the remarks during an interview with Adam Jonas of Morgan Stanley. Now, Musk is threatening to move Tesla HQ out of California ‘immediately’ after a California county health official said that the plant could not reopen.
Musk was not happy the way California state government has handled the stay-at-home order. In a post on Twitter, Musk said in a comment thread that he was also planning to file a lawsuit against Alameda County.
“Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately,’ he said in the Saturday tweet. ‘If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA,” Musk tweeted.
The Tesla founder also said his company will sue Alameda County over a shelter-in-place order that will prevent the manufacturing plant from reopening before June. Musk said he will move the headquarters to “Texas/Nevada immediately.”

His tweets immediately generated many reactions from Musk followers, with one user saying: “Elon we welcome you and Tesla to Texas with open arms. We support businesses and have less government red tape to handle. And remember to embrace some Texas car culture. We need you to drive in a Tesla Slab.”
