Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey announced he is giving $1 billion from his equity in the mobile-payment platform he founded, Square, to help “fund global COVID-19 relief.” This is the largest pledged gift by a private individual since the pandemic started three months ago.
In a post on Twitter, Dorsey said: “I’m moving $1B of my Square equity (~28% of my wealth) to #startsmall LLC to fund global COVID-19 relief. After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI. It will operate transparently, all flows tracked here:”
