Bill Gates is giving away copies of his favorite book of the year, Factfulness, to all 2018 college graduates in the US
Bill Gates announced on his website Tusday that he’s giving away copies of his favorite book of the year to everyone who’s getting a degree from a U.S. college or university this spring. The book is called, “Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World–and Why Things Are Better Than You Think.” The book is only being awarded to an associate’s, bachelor’s, or post-graduate degree graduate from U.S. schools. Unfortunately, because of international publishing rights, it is not available to graduates outside the United States.
The book is written by Hans Rosling, a medical doctor, professor of international health and renowned public educator. He was an adviser to the World Health Organization and UNICEF, and co-founded Médecins sans Frontières in Sweden and the Gapminder Foundation. His TED talks have been viewed more than 35 million times, and he was listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world. Hans died in 2017, having devoted the last years of his life to writing Factfulness. The book is an economist’s view of how life is steadily improving around the world.
The book is available in an electronic, downloadable copy Gates’ website. You can download a copy of the book by clicking on the image below.
“I hope you enjoy Factfulness as much as I did. And I hope you take Hans’s advice to heart. “When we have a fact-based worldview,” he writes, “we can see that the world is not as bad as it seems—and we can see what we have to do to keep making it better.” I agree. My wish for you at this special time is to learn to think, and act, factfully,” Bill Gates said in his blog post.
Gates also said the following on Twitter: “If you’re getting a degree from a U.S. college this spring, I have a present for you. Download a free copy of one of my favorite books: https://b-gat.es/2M3Q9ql ”
