Cleontic is revolutionizing the way you clean your toothbrush
Did you know that your toothbrush contains millions of bacteria that could be making you and your family sick? Think about the last time you cleaned your toothbrush. Chances are, it’s been too long to remember. An exposed toothbrush, like the one sitting in your bathroom right now, is a canvas for grabbing millions of harmful airborne bacteria and fecal matter. Yes, you read that right – and you can thank your toilet for being in close proximity to your toothbrush for that. As for your toothbrush holder, its environment is even worse, being the third dirtiest object in your entire home. Cleontic not only keeps your toothbrush bacteria-free, it maintains the cleanliness of the home your brush lives in, the toothbrush holder, as well.
Opal Duncan and Ian Duncan Jr., of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada have always been passionate about brainstorming and dreaming up different ideas. “When the kids: Ian Jr., Breanna, Jillian, and Chanel were younger, the Duncan family took great pleasure in pitching ideas for new and creative products, and took even more pleasure in playing devil’s advocate to discuss why the product idea might be difficult to achieve. Out of this passion, Cleontic was born.
Cleontic is a toothbrush cleaner and holder that mechanically removes 99.9% of bacteria from your toothbrush bristles with the use of a patented cleaning mechanism and mouthwash,” the Duncans said in an email to TechStartups.com.
As we all know, oral health is important. Poor oral hygiene can lead to gum disease, and diabetes, and is directly linked to many chronic illnesses. Because of this, oral health is known as the window into the health of the rest of the body. Cleontic was created because Opal saw a problem with oral health’s most utilized tool, that was not being addressed. The toothbrush. The toothbrush is a product people use on average once or twice a day, but is a product that is never cleaned. The average toothbrush contains 10 million bacteria. Harmful bacteria that can include Salmonella and E.coli which could negatively effect one’s overall health. The toothbrush holder is also dirty. In fact, the toothbrush holder is the third dirtiest item in the entire home.
Cleontic solves these problems through its ingenuity and design. Cleontic is a toothbrush holder that can hold four toothbrushes simultaneously and has four separated cylinders to diminish the transfer of bacteria from toothbrush to toothbrush. In each cylinder there is the ‘Fin System’ which helps clean your toothbrush. Each cylinder consists of two sets of cleaning fin. The bottom fins get in between the bristles of the toothbrush to remove bacteria, while the upper fins drain excess liquid from the toothbrush bristles. Once the toothbrush has been cleaned, the rubber stoppers at the bottom of the cylinder can be removed to drain the mouthwash or sanitizing solution. The toothbrush is then stored bristle end up to promote airflow to the toothbrush bristles and diminish the growth of bacteria.
Cleontic can also be complete disassembled and is dishwasher safe. This ensures that the toothbrush holder itself is also clean and bacteria free.
Cleontic is currently live on Kickstarter, and the company is looking to hit its $20,000 goal to be able to manufacture and distribute Cleontic at a large scale and get it into the homes of families all around the world.
